project description
The new 37,000 sf, 6 bay aircraft hangar is a pre-engineered building design that allows rapid dispatch of the fighter aircraft. The building includes fabric hanger doors and fire detection system. Structural Associates is the prime contractor for the upgrade of the parking apron, taxiway and construction of a new aircraft hangar for the 174th Air National Guard at Syracuse Hancock Airport. This project involves the demolition of concrete and asphalt pavements, and selected utilities. Construction includes site grading and construction of a new storm sewer system, buried communication duct banks, 400,000 sf (12,200 cy) of 12” and 14” portland cement concrete aircraft parking apron including associated taxiway asphalt overlay and widening.
