project description
This project involved the design and construction of four (4) Company Operations Facilities, consisting of:
- 24,900 sf 2-Company Field Artillery Facility
- 31,900 sf 2-Company Infantry Facility
- 70,300 sf 5-Company Brigade Support Battalion Facility
- 86,000 sf 6-Company Brigade Special Troop Battalion Facility
These facilities provide new company operations facilities for a total of 1840 troops and includes administration spaces, readiness/gear storage rooms with TA 50 lockers, secure equipment storage areas, arms vaults and miscellaneous support facilities. Anti-terrorism/force protection measures were incorporated into the building design providing resistance to progressive building collapse and blast resistance of the building windows and doors.
The building design consisted of reinforced concrete perimeter wall foundations and a pre-engineered metal building structural frame for all buildings. The exterior building façade was a combination of masonry and insulated metal wall panels. Roofing systems included EPDM membrane at flat roofs and standing seam metal roofing at sloped roofs.
The building envelope was designed and performance tested by air pressurization to assure that the specified building air leakage rate was met, in fact, the actual air leakage rate was less than required by the RFP. Sustainable design criteria was incorporated with the achievement of a certifiable LEED rating of ‘Silver’ for these facilities.
