project description

Construction of a single story 16,000 sf visitor center for the Historic Fort Stanwix National Park Service Site. Building is situated adjacent to an archeological site requiring all excavations to be conducted under the scrutiny of an Archeologist. Building design incorporated various structural elements (structural steel, load bearing steel studs, conventional wood construction and structural wood members). The architectural themes are as equally varied including field stone veneer walls, cedar siding, copper tile roofing, integral colored concrete slabs and expanses of glass curtain wall. Specialized HVAC systems are utilized in the archived exhibit area to preserve the historical display items.
