Project Description
This $29 million dollar project involved the design and construction (design/build) of a new Railhead Loading Facility at Fort Drum, NY. Groundbreaking took place in July 2022 with design starting immediately, construction started in early Spring 2023 with final completion in November 2024.
The project modernized the 10th Mountain Division’s ability to deploy containerized materials & equipment quicker and more efficiently. The facility includes a 12,000 sf Operations Building, 11,000 sf Scale House, Covered Rail Loading Ramps, Rail Siding Tracks and Concrete Hardstand Staging Area.
The covered rail loading ramps, enclosed Scale House, site and rail track lighting and site pavements gives the Army all weather and 24/7 operation capability of the Rail head Facility.
This contractor lead design included development of a 27 acre site including water, sewer, gas, stormwater, electric and communications. In addition to the building construction, over 10 acres of concrete hardstand paving was constructed by SAI’s workforce that totaled over 17,000 cubic yards.
